Conducting The Experiment
My idea was to determine whether all plants transpire at the same rate under different sources of light. I planned on conducting this investigation by covering the leaves of two different plant species with plastic bottles to collect and measure the amount of moisture emitted by each plant. This will be done over the same time period (five hours) under different light and environmental conditions: morning, afternoon and night.
Aim: To directly measure the amount of water plants transpire and determine whether plants transpire at similar rates when exposed to the same light and environmental conditions.
Hypothesis: All plants transpire, however the amount being released can vary depending on its surroundings. It can than be hypothesised that it will be during the afternoon where all plants transpire at the fastest rate as it is the hottest time of day where and has the most sunlight. Also, it will be during the night where the plants transpire at the slowest rate as it is the coldest and darkest time of the day.
